About This Work

DEMOLISH was a major collaboration with director Rebecca Russell and designer Ken Evans (RUSSELL:EVANS), commissioned by Creative Victoria for the Regional Centre for Culture 2018. This large-scale live art piece took place over three nights at Bendigo Showgrounds, with the set - a real house - being progressively torn down during the performances. My role encompassed design, production and live mixing for this visually and emotionally stunning production that explored the precarious nature of how we live in the landscape and the destruction implicit in development and progress. The work combined dance and physical theatre with spectacular visual elements, creating a moving theatrical experience. Working with RUSSELL:EVANS allowed me to contribute to their signature approach of creating grand scale site-specific visual theatre in regional Victoria. The production featured performers Janette Hoe, Christy Flaws, Luke O'Connor, along with Clunes farmer Christine Rowe and Dja Dja Wurrung elder Aunty Linda Ford, demonstrating the collaborative community engagement central to their practice.
